According to you, what are social networking sites famous for? I believe majority of you would say connecting with friends, sharing photos and videos, chatting, passing time, promoting yourself and/or your service, and sharing information with your connections. And when I ask you what is Google famous for, your answer would undoubtedly be “search”. As we witness growing concerns for our planet due to the cruel onslaught of human on the environment, global search engine leader Google has decided to take the initiative and spread awareness about its dangerous consequences. The search company is all set to share a new environmental film project between YouTube and Google Maps, two of the most renowned products of Google. The aim is to make people understand the state of our planet by airing a full-length film ‘Home’ on its video-sharing site YouTube.
The exclusive 90 minute film ‘Home’ by Luc Besson and Yann-Arthus Betrand will be available in four different languages – English, French, German and Spanish beginning June 5, the World Environment Day. Read the rest of this entry »

Don’t be surprised if you see another company entering the social networking arena; this time a giant online media company – Yahoo! Carol Bartz, CEO at Yahoo Inc. said that social networking sites are a key area of interest for the company. This is amidst Yahoo’s on-going effort to compete with Google and capture a larger search engine market share.

With Facebook dominating the social networking industry and spreading like wild-fire across various boundaries, MySpace has decided to tie up with search major Google and spread out its roots as well. Though being the number one player in the US, MySpace is well overtaken by rival Facebook when it comes to the global presence.
